Internship programmes

The internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills. It is an official program offered by the academy to help train and provide work experience to students and recent graduates. People need the experience to get hands-on knowledge in their career field.

Internships equip you with more than just technical skills

When you are working as a professional for an organisation, business and technical knowledge are not the only things that the industry demands. You need people skills as well – because no matter how good you are, you won’t stand a chance of succeeding in any profession unless you develop a collaborative work ethic and learn to be a team player.

On top of that, you need to know how to work under pressure, and why deadlines matter. An internship gives you exposure to the challenges of a work environment and having experience in these situations will be useful to talk about in future interviews and show employers that you will be a good fit for their company.

SASA provides internship programmes to students who completed UG or PG courses in statistics-related topics and Data Science. The academy has a rich source of official statistics in various sectors of the economy. Also, the students can utilise the library facilities of the Department of Economics & Statistics and other reference materials in SASA and DES during their internship period. Internships are supervised, structured learning experiences in a professional setting that allow you to gain valuable work experience in a student’s chosen field of study.
