occasion, the newly appointed Director, Mr. G. S. Rajath, planted a
sapling on the institution’s premises, underscoring SASA’s commitment to
environmental stewardship.

- 12/08/2025 - Training - Data Collection Techniques and Estimation Methods - Thirty participants from various districts came together for an intensive training programme on Data Collection Techniques and Estimation Methods. The sessions were led by Rtd. Prof. Somasekharan Pillai and Mr. Preeth V. S., Deputy Director, Department of Economics and Statistics, who shared their expertise and practical insights. The programme provided participants with in-depth knowledge and hands-on exposure to effective data collection practices and accurate estimation methodologies, enhancing their capacity to carry out fieldwork and analytical tasks with precision.
- 19/08/2025 - 21/08/2025 Training - Leadership and Management Skills for Taluk Statistical Officers/Statistical Officers - 25 Taluk Statistical Officers and 1 Statistical Officer attended Training on Leadership and Management Skills. Practical hacks to handle the team with them and theoretical knowledge of KSR, KSSR, and other mandatory rules and procedure to handle the offices were given during the training.

- 10/09/2025 to 12/09/2025 - Training -Training on Advanced MS Excel - Twenty six participants from various departments attended an intensive training programme to up skill their knowledge in MS Excel. The trainees were very much benefited from the way the trainers saw to the need of the trainees and cater to their needs. From the basic excel functionalities the training soon moved to the day to day needs of trainees at their respective offices. Tables, Filtering, Data Cleaning, Google Drive Integration (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms etc) were all the topics which made the trainees excel in their works.
- 22/09/2025 to 26/09/2025 - (National Level) Training on Soft Skills and Professional Excellence for Subordinate Statistical Staff (Junior Statistical Officers and Senior Statistical Officers) at South Zone, NSO, Bengaluru. As part of its journey towards becoming a Centre of Excellence, SASA commenced hosting national-level training programmes from 2024–25 onwards. The first of these was the Training on Soft Skills and Professional Excellence for Subordinate Statistical Staff. The programme created a lasting impact on the participants. Many trainees expressed that the training gave them the confidence to step out from behind the podium and address people directly, which would greatly benefit their interactions during data collection from the public. The sessions on interpersonal relationships, communication, leadership, and professional excellence significantly enhanced their skills and professional outlook.

06/10/2025 to 07/10/2025 - Training on AI Tools in Statistical Data Collection and Analysis: A two-day training program on "AI Tools in Statistical Data Collection and Analysis" was successfully conducted from October 6-7, 2025, at SASA, Thiruvananthapuram, with 25 participants. Experienced Professionals from Digital University of Kerala led the sessions. The training covered key emerging areas in Artificial Intelligence, including AI and ML fundamentals, the shift from Generative to Agentic AI, and practical AI tools for productivity, governance, documentation, and workflow enhancement. Sessions on prompting, text generation, and AI-based research and imaging further strengthened hands-on skills. Demonstrations of Microsoft AI tools and real-world case studies enhanced applied understanding. These subjects equipped the trainees with modern digital competencies, enabling them to work smarter, automate routine tasks, improve decision-making, and contribute to technology-enabled governance. Overall, the programme enhanced efficiency, innovation, and confidence in using AI for professional excellence.
09/10/2025 to 10/10/2025 -Training on Basics of Economics and Concepts in National and International Economies - A two-day training program on "Basics of Economics and Concepts in National and International Economies" was successfully conducted from October 9-10, 2025, at SASA, Thiruvananthapuram, with 30 participants. The faculty members, Dr. Godwin S K and Dr. Hari Kurup K K, received exceptional acclaim for their ability to explain complex economic concepts in an accessible manner. The comprehensive coverage spanning foundational economics, national economic analysis, fiscal and monetary policies, and international perspectives was highly appreciated. Participants successfully acquired valuable knowledge in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and global economic frameworks, with sessions effectively connecting theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. The training achieved its core objective of building economic literacy among department employees from diverse educational backgrounds, with excellent course materials and logical topic sequencing contributing to an enriching learning experience.
